{"product_id":"dean-jagger-15089","title":"Dean Jagger - 15089","description":"Great Oscar-winning American character actor.\n\nBorn on an Ohio farm, Jagger was a schoolteacher for several years before studying acting at Chicago's Lyceum Art Conservatory. By the time he made his first film in 1929 (The Woman From Hell, a silent starring Mary Astor), Jagger had worked in stock theatre, vaudeville and radio. At first, Hollywood attempted to turn Jagger into a standard leading man, fitting the prematurely balding actor with a lavish wig and changing his name to Jeffrey Dean. It wasn't long before the studios realized that Jagger's true calling was as a character actor. One of his few starring roles after 1940 was as the title character in Brigham Young, Frontiersman - though top billing went to Tyrone Power, cast as a fictional Mormon follower.\n\nJagger won an Academy Award for his sensitive performance in Twelve O'Clock High (1949) as one of General Gregory Peck's officers (and the film's narrator).\n\nLater film credits include The Robe (1953), White Christmas (as General Waverly, 1954). Bad Day at Black Rock (1955), Elvis Presley's King Creole (1958), The Nun's Story (1959), Elmer Gantry (1960) and many others.\n\nThis is a very fine black and white publicity photograph (9\" x7\"), almost certainly from a television series (there's an NBC stamp to the reverse). Jagger has added a neat signature and inscription in black ink across a clear area of the image. Condition is excellent.","brand":"Clickautographs","offers":[{"title":"1colour \/ 1size \/ Authentic","offer_id":57853626122572,"sku":"155","price":50.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1067\/9222\/3052\/files\/dean_jagger_JS.jpg?v=1785520194","url":"https:\/\/midsussexcollectibles.com\/en-gb\/products\/dean-jagger-15089","provider":"Mid Sussex Collectibles","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
