{"product_id":"kim-kendall-16599","title":"Kim Kendall - 16599","description":"Yorkshire-born singer and dancer, older sister (by two years) of the great actress Kay Kendall.\n\nKim and Kay were born into a theatrical family (their father was a comic dancer and their grandmother a music hall singer.) Following their parents' divorce in 1940, the two girls moved to London to be with their mother. Though they were in their teens they had the height, the figures and the looks to become chorus girls.\n\nKim was the first to go on stage, appearing at a revue at the Holborn Empire with Tommy Trinder and then in 1941 in a new George Black revue, Gangway, also starring Tommy Trinder. Kay joined her in the chorus.\n\nAfter two years of touring in George Black revues, the two girls formed a double act, appearing in ENSA shows (what a treat for the troops!) and the variety circuit.\n\nThe act seems to have broken up around 1944 when Kay began to get small parts in Ealing films. She got a small part as a slave girl in Fiddlers Three, an uncredited bit part in Champagne Charlie (both starring Tommy Trinder) and a role as a “party girl” in the Flanders and Allen vehicle Dreaming.\n\nLittle is known about Kim Kendall's life after this. What we do know is that she is still with us and lives in America with her family.\n\nThis is a lovely vintage publicity photograph (6.25\" x 4\") from the early 1940s, boldly signed and inscribed (\"To Olwen \u0026amp; Ricky with love, Kim Kendall\") in blue fountain pen ink. One very light bend extending 2\" downwards from the centre of the top edge (you have to look for it) and colour changes in the emulsion in the top left corner but otherwise in good condition.\n\nA very rare item and a fascinating addition to any Kay Kendall collection.\n\nThe internet offers a lovely image of Kim and Kay Kendall, apparently taken when Kay was making Fiddlers Three in 1944.
