Other silent films followed, but it wasn't until the arrival of the talkies that her screen career got into its stride, with good supporting roles in films that included Alfred Hitchcock's Jamaica Inn (1939).\n\nJerrold was at her busiest in her twilight years, in films such as The Way Ahead (1944), The Magic Bow (1946), The Ghosts of Berkeley Square (1947), Bond Street (1948), The Queen of Spades (1949) and She Shall Have Murder (1950)\n\nHer last film was the 1953 comedy, Top of the Form, in an excellent cast that included Alfie Bass, Anthony Newley, Richard Wattis and Gerald Campion.\n\nThis is a very fine vintage sepia photograph (5.75\" x 4\"), nicely signed (\"All good wishes, Mary Jerrold, January 1952\") in blue fountain pen ink.
