British singer.
Cogan started her career in the chorus line of the musical High Button Shoes in 1948, alongside the then-unknown Audrey Hepburn.
She made her first record in 1952 and went on to enjoy 20 major hits including Bell Bottom Blues (1954), Can't tell A Waltz From A Tango (1954) and Twenty Tiny Fingers (1955). Cogan's 1956 hit, Dreamboat, was the only No.1 by a female singer in the whole of the 1950's. She was the first British vocalist to have her own television series in Britain (1959-1961).
Cogan died of cancer after a long illness.
This is a fine black and white photograph (5.5" x 3.25"), boldly signed and inscribed ("To Frank, Sincerely, Alma Cogan") in dark blue ink. One tiny crease across the top left corner tip but otherwise in good condition.
