Fine British actor. Jones made his film debut in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942) and, with his boyish looks, went on to enjoy a good career playing innocents in films such as: The Wicked Lady (1945); The Rake's Progress (1945); Nicholas Nickleby (1947); Holiday Camp (1947); and Powell and Pressburger's The Small Back Room (1949). Much of the 1950s was spent on stage, though he returned to the big screen in 1960 playing Robbie Ross in The Trials of Oscar Wilde Jones' later career was mostly spent on television in such programmes as Softly, Softly; No Hiding Place, Dixon of Dock Green. Doomwatch; Z-Cars; and, most memorably, as 'The Master of the Land of Fiction' in the Doctor Who serial, The Mind Robber (1968). This is a rare 1940s sepia photograph (5.5" x 3.5") by Cyril Stanborough, nicely signed in blue fountain pen ink across the lower white panel. A very small horizonal crease in the top right corner but otherwise in very good condition. (J/S)
