Freddie Jones - 14889

Great British character actor, often playing quirky, eccentric roles. Jones became an actor after ten years of working as a laboratory assistant with a firm making ceramic products. He became famous for his role as Claudius in the 1968 BBC television series The Caesars, earning for himself The World's Best Television Actor of the Year award at the Monte Carlo Television Festival of 1969. After making his film debut in Peter Brook's critically acclaimed Marat/Sade (1967) Jones went on to appear in Far From The Madding Crowd (1967), Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (as the Monster, 1969), Doctor in Trouble (1970), Anthony and Cleopatra (1972), Son of Dracula (1974), The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1974), All Creatures Great and Small (1975), Zulu Dawn (1979), The Elephant Man (1980), Clint Eastwood's Firefox (1982), Federico Fellini's And the Ship Sails On (1983), Dune (1984), Wild At Heart (1990) and many others. Jones's television and stage work was extensive. This is a very fine black and white photograph (8" x 10"), as Bytes in The Elephant Man (1980), nicely signed in black ink over a light area of the image. In excellent condition.
