Mary Jarred - 15036

English opera singer sometimes classed as a mezzo-soprano and sometimes as a contralto.

Jarred began by singing minor roles at Covent Garden, beginning in 1929, and went on to enjoy a long and distinguished career. She will, however, probably be best remembered as one of the original 16 singers (as a Contralto) in Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music on the 5th of October, 1935.

This is a very fine vintage black and white postcard, neatly signed ("Kind Greeting, Mary Jarred") in dark blue fountain pen ink. In excellent condition.
