Mylene Demongeot - 16595

Lovely French actress, one of the leading blonde sex symbols in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s French cinema. Demongeot made her film debut at the age of 17 in a supporting role in Children of Love (1953) and went on to appeared in three or four feature films every year thereafter, rising to international fame in the late 1950s. Her performance in The Crucible (1957) was exceptional, playing a 17-year old witch-like virgin who has sex twice with her employer, farmer Yves Montand. Lovely, sensual and maleficent, she stole every scene she was in. She revealed a talent for comedy with another standout performance in Bonjour Tristesse (1958), playing the young, charmingly empty-headed mistress of playboy David Niven. 1959 saw her less successfully in the Three Murderesses, playing one of three young women chasing after Alain Delon; she was the only thing that made this low-wattage French comedy worth watching. 1959 was also notable for marking Demongeot's first entrance into “costume” films, when she played manipulative and coquettish Andromeda opposite Steve Reeves in The Giant of Marathon (1959). She played the leading role of Rea opposite Roger Moore in Romulus and the Sabines (1961), the manipulative Milady de Winter in The Three Musketeers: Part I - The Queen's Diamonds (1961) and Helene in all three of the Fantomas films, starring Jean Marais, and beginning in 1964. Other films include The Singer Not the Song (1961), Doctor in Distress (1964) and Uncle Tom's Cabin (1965). This is an exceptionally pretty French postcard of a Sam Levin photograph, nicely signed in blue ink. In excellent condition.
