Natassja Kinski - 16866

German actress, daughter of Klaus Kinski. Kinski began her career in her teens, making her first film The Wrong Move for Wim Wenders in 1975. Still not yet 20, she then became involved with Roman Polanski, who subsidized her acting training in New York and London. In 1980 Polanski gave her the title role in Tess (1980), a lavishly produced adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Shortly thereafter, Kinski became the dream of male college undergraduates everywhere by posing for a Richard Avedon poster wearing nothing but a large, live python which spiralled around her body. There followed a series of very odd films, including Cat People in 1982 and Exposed in 1983, when co-star Rudolf Nureyev “played” her body with a cello bow, and much of the 1980's were spent in “artistic” films with little box office appeal. In the early 1990s, Kinski dropped from view altogether, devoting herself to her marriage to pop-music maestro Quincy Jones. This is a very fine colour lobby card (8" x 10") for her breakthrough film, Tess (1980), boldly signed across the image in blue ink (heart, heart, heart, Love Natassja Kinski"). The in-person signing was in September 1998 at the premiere of What Dreams May Come at the Ampas Theatres in Beverly Hills. In very good condition (the image is sharper than suggested by my scanner).
