Fine English actor, in some excellent films but probably best remembered for his long-running role as Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel in television's Dalziel and Pascoe.
Clarke was first seen on television in 1966, playing Kenny Pickup in Coronation Street. His first major film appearance was in Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange (1971) where he played a vicious thug named “Dim”, in red lipstick and a bowler opposite Malcolm McDowell. He appeared with McDowell again in the film O Lucky Man! (1973). Other films include Clint Eastwood's Firefox (playing a Russian spy,1982) and Enigma (another spy story, also 1982.)
It is for his extensive television work that Clarke is best remembered, particularly Dalziel and Pascoe. Between 1996 and 2007 he appeared in 61 episodes
This is a very fine colour photograph (about 6" x 4") signed and inscribed ("To John, Best Wishes, Warren Clarke") in black ink across the lower white panel. In excellent condition.
