Charlie Cairoli - 15913

Great British clown.

Born into an Italian circus family, Cairoli settled in England in 1939. He became the hugely popular star of the Blackpool Tower Circus, entertaining holiday crowds for 39 consecutive summer seasons (there is now a statue there in his honour).

He had a reputation for using vast amounts of ÒsloshÓ in his routines (changed every year) and for his use of extremely pretty female stooges.

This is a wonderful black and white close-up (5.5" x 3.5"of Cairoli, the greatest of all circus clowns, neatly signed and inscribed ("To John, very sincerely, Charlie Cairoli") in blue ink across the lower white panel. in excellent condition.
