Charlie Cairoli - 16330

Great British clown.

Born into an Italian circus family, Cairoli settled in England in 1939. He became the hugely popular star of the Blackpool Tower Circus, entertaining holiday crowds for 39 consecutive summer seasons (there is now a statue there in his honour).

He had a reputation for using vast amounts of ÒsloshÓ in his routines (changed every year) and for his use of extremely pretty female stooges.

This is a very fine black and white photograph (5.5" x 3.5") with a lovely message of goodwill ("To John, sincerely wishing you the best of everything and all that brings joy and happiness") in blue ink across a clear area of the image, and a beautiful signature, also in blue ink, across the lower white panel. In excellent condition.
