Distinguished British actor, most famous for his outstanding television performances, especially BBC Television's I, Claudius (1976) and Cadfael (1994-1996). Big screen credits include Othello (1965), The Day of the Jackal (1973), The Odessa File (1974), Enigma (1982), Little Dorrit (1987), Henry V (1989), Dead Again (1991), Hamlet (1996), Love Is The Devil (as Francis Bacon, 1998), Gladiator (key role as Gracchus, 2000) and Joan of Arc (2000) Interesting fact: Jacobi was on the shortlist for the role of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). This is a very fine black and white photograph (8" x 10") of the young Jacobi in his most famous role, as Claudius, boldly signed in dark blue ink. ( Jacobi is a generous signer but signed photos as Claudius are surprisingly scarce.)
